Mrs. Hélène Marie Laurence Ilboudo/Marchal was a Member of Parliament until January 2018, when she was appointed as Minister for Women, National Solidarity and Family. With the ministerial reshuffle of February 2019, she was reappointed to her post with the additional task of coordinating the humanitarian response to the serious humanitarian crisis in Burkina Faso. Mrs. Hélène Marie Laurence Ilboudo/Marchal is a member of the Defense and Security Commission (CODES) and also serves as the Coordinator of the Network of Women Parliamentarians and Development (RéPaFed).
As Minister, Mrs. Ilboudo/Marchal, whose political fight is the protection of children and women, has been leading several large-scale actions since 2018, including the removal of children from the street, the fight against GBV – in particular FGM and child marriages – and women’s empowerment.
Mrs. Hélène Marie Laurence Ilboudo/Marchal was re-elected as a Member of Parliament to the National Assembly and was reappointed at the helm of the Ministry of Women, National Solidarity and Family in January 2021.
Mrs. Ilboudo/Marchal is also the Chairperson of the 7th Session of the Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in the Development of OIC Member States since October 2018. She holds several honorary distinctions, including those of: Officer of the Order of the Stallion, Officer of the Order of Merit of Sports, and Medal of Honour of the Sapeurs-Pompiers.
